Members of the Spear One team just returned from the IRF Reward & Recognition show in New Orleans. As usual, they’ve returned with loads of good info and ideas that broaden our way of thinking about incentive program design and delivery. One such concept is the idea of the 4 Drive Model of Motivation. This model identifies four distinct focus areas that “drive” the motivation of program participants. A successful program is one that includes design elements that meet the needs of each of the 4 drives.
While it’s most likely true that all of us can see where we might, at times, crossover into any of these groups, there is the belief that everyone falls into one main area that truly drives their behavior. How well do you know you participants and do your programs include the right kind of triggers?
